co-captain.

Story time....

One cold, wintery January day me and my trusty sidekick (Markel) ventured up to our home away from home, Energy Solutions Arena. This wasn't just an ordinary trip though, this was an extraordinary trip. Why you may ask? It was because I was selected to be co-captain for the game or as I often refer to I got to become D-wills BFF for the day. The day started out with the intern handing me a D-will jersey and floor passes and then leading me through the back tunnels. I got to see the locker rooms, the family room, the intense security and then bam! I was on the court. We got to watch shoot around and the warm-up show while practically on the floor and then it happened...

I was dragged to the middle of the floor. Ok, maybe dragged isn't the right word. I cheerfully skipped onto the floor. D-will greeted me and we did this sweet handshake. I will teach ya if ya ask. It is sa-weet!

I then met the Memphis Grizzlies captains, Marc Gasol and Mike Conley (who I secretly have this thing for. I find him sooo attractive). I got to give them a little pep talk. I told the Memphis guys that if he hurt any players I would punch them in the face. And then I told D-will I loved his shoes. They started laughing at me. I didn't care though because they will definitely remember me...

After a few pictures, i went and took my seat. During the game I got to give Deron a shoulder massage, whisper encouraging words of advice in his ear, and call a couple of plays. Alright, I made that last part up but it was definitely a night to remember. Plus the Jazz won. I deserve Co-Captain of the Year award! This whole experience made me love the jazz more, if that is even possible! Go team!

Interesting Facts.

I stole this "15 interesting facts" off of my friends blog and I thought it was rather clever so I decided to do it myself. So now all you dear blog followers can know the real me...

Meet Me, Cami Packer.
1. I can't stand the smell, look, or taste of green gum. It disgusts me and all because of a stupid story my sunday school teachers told me. Moral of the story, skip sunday school.
2. The way to my heart is through a Café Rio Pork burrito. Cold cereal often does the trick too.
3. I refuse to eat real potatoes yet I am addicted to instant potatoes.
4. I want a little teacup yorkshire terrier named Keeley. I would probably take her to law school with me, dress her up, and stick her in my purse just like Elle Woods in Legally Blonde.
5. I am a pretty wild sleeper. I will often be seen in my bed wearing a hoodie, sweats, gloves, 2 pairs of socks, and a beanie. And this is even underneath my 4 or 5 heavy blankets.
6. My biggest pet peeve in the whole world would be people cracking their joints especially their knuckles. Whenever I hear that sound I honestly feel like barfing. Please refrain from doing that around me, it would be appreciated.
7. My two biggest stress relievers would be pounding my heart out on the piano or running for miles. I usually prefer the first one but living in an apartment has limited my opportunities to play.
8. I don’t have a middle name but in elementary school I would pretend it was Priscilla. I think I watched a little too much Arthur.
9. I am not afraid of needles and I actually enjoy the smell of hospitals. Hospital food is rather delish too.
10. I am easily creeped out by the Burger King king and Kobe Bryant. I once dreamt about both of them in the same dream, scarred me for life.
11. I fear earthquakes. I keep a flashlight right by me when I sleep so if the earth starts shaking and buries me then I will have light to fight my way out of the rubble.
12. I am a pretty deep sleeper. I can sleep through anything, including my alarm. That is why I always set my alarm to vibrate, the vibrations usually make me think there is an earthquake and I instantly will jolt awake.
13. I am an absolute-hard-core-no-apologies-Disneyland Freak.
14. There are three movies that never get old in my mind: Shes the Man, 500 days of Summer, and Elf (Santa! I know him!)
15. I have some wild ambitions I want to accomplish in my life. Some of these include graduating law school, becoming an NBA agent, becoming the first woman president, creating world peace, having a cute little family, becoming the oldest person to ever run a marathon, and skydiving with my amigos for our 80th birthday.

Three Amigos.

Meet my two best friends...

Carlie Jo AKA Carlos
Josi AKA Jose
and then there is me but unfortunately I don't have a cool Spanish name yet. Bummer.

Not to sound cheesy or anything but my life would be dull, empty, and useless without these two girls. We have been best friends since 7th grade when I moved to the lovely town of Tremonton. We have always embarked on some crazy and wild adventures. Mainly because our birthdays are right next to each others And just so everyone knows, I am the youngest which means I will die last. Just had to throw that out there. We have done things from riding in helicopters to stuffing our faces at PizzaPieCafe and from modeling prom dresses to skydiving. This year we also have crazy ambitions of celebrating our 21st birthdays in Vegas (Ike, if you are reading this I am begging you to let Carlie go. Pretty pretty please, with a cherry on top!). The reason I am spilling my guts out about my friends is because this weekend our three amigo friendship is changing. Carlie is getting married which means we now have to share her. Guess this means only one thing...Ike is going to have to get a crazy spanish name. Any suggestions?

New Semester.

A new year always means one thing...I get the privilege of going back to school after a long and much needed Christmas Break. Yeah! (insert hint of sarcasm here) Believe it or not though, I think I am actually going to enjoy this semester of school. I am finally done with my dreaded Generals so I can focus on my degree and I get to go to class that I actually find to be entertaining. It also helps that I picked a major very few people of the female species has chosen to pursue, thus leaving my options open and the views of class to be rather beautiful. The only downside of being one of the only girls in my class, I always get picked on to answer questions. Apparently they like to see the "females perspective" which I think is a bunch of bologna but whatever. This semester I am taking International Relations, International Terrorism, Us Presidency, American Government, 7 Habits of Highly Effective People, and Intro to Music. Total of 18 Credits. Yep, I didn't stutter. 18 credits. Torture right? Not only is this resulting in mountains of homework but it has always drained my bank account. It bites when classes require 3 books each and they are each around sixty bucks. But thats alright. I just have to keep thinking 3 more semesters and an internship in DC and I will be living my dream of Law School (preferably at Georgetown). Holla Holla!

13.1 miles.

This year I have decided to set only one New Year’s resolution, considering the fact that I usually fail miserably at them. This year I am going to run a half marathon.

13.1 Miles. 23,056 Yards.
26,200 steps. 69,168 Feet. 830,016 Inches.

I am starting training next week in hopes I will be ready in time for the Salt Lake Half Marathon on April 16th. Only 103 days left to prep….this should make for quite an adventure.

1.1.11

1.1.11
New Decade.
New Year.
New Day.
New Life.
New Beginning.

To celebrate the beginning of something bigger and better me and the crew went up to Salt Lake and went to EVE. Yes, it was freezing and took me about 3 hours to defrost but it was worth it. It was a pretty rocking party, complete with fireworks, snowboarding, fire dancers, bounce houses, concerts, and dances. My favorite part was probably the trax ride though...three words: drunk people galore. Here are some pics of the festivities. Happy 2011 Everyone!
